Greetings and salutations!
It seems like it’s been forever since I posted an update here (tongue very firmly in cheek).
I just finished up writing for the day, and I have to say I’m pleased with my production. And before I get to the section where I upload a screen cap of my writing log, I want to go ahead and own that I diverged from my Skullkeep-only statement in my previous catch-up post from this morning.
Chapter 22 ended just a tad on the dark end of the spectrum, and I wanted to step back and consider if that’s really how I want it to end. I think it is. Right now, I think the most I’ll “change” it is by adding a few lines of dialogue to soften the edges of the ending a bit. Not much… just a bit.
But I still want to sleep on it, and I was only 3,144 words and one hour, fifty-seven minutes, into my writing day when I finished Chapter 22.
When I started this challenge, the goal was to write 3,175 words each day, but I’ve decided that if I can stretch myself to 5,500 words, I should. I also want to train myself to write four hours each day. Based on what seems to be a comfortable typing rate, I will more than achieve 5,500 words as long as I manage to write for four hours at my normal pace.
Which means that I still had some words and minutes to go before I could end my day.
So, I finished Chapter 15 of The Shepherd and started its Chapter 16.
Even though it’s not the primary story I want to finish right now, I still love it, and it–like I’m sure will be the case with everything I write from here on–is absolutely a story I’d love to share with Mom.
