Howdy,

I realized I’ve been kinda quiet on here for a little bit and figured I could hop on and ramble about some topics that have me pretty excited.

As I’ve mentioned before, Starfield releases on September 6th, and I’m pretty stoked about it. But that’s almost sorta-kinda old news, because I’ve mentioned it at least once (or maybe twice), here on the site.

Except…

Today, I was cruising my subscribed channels on YouTube, and I saw this:

The video is slightly more than 56 minutes long, and I enjoyed every second of it.

I was already aware that Adam Savage has a lot of experience with model-making and has worked at such places as ILM (Industrial Light & Magic, founded by George Lucas), not to mention MythBusters, but it really struck me as all kinds of awesome that Bethesda Game Studios went to him and his team to build a model and record a movie for the game. They announced the upcoming series of YouTube videos to the members of their channel, and they announced it as “a series of videos.”

I am eagerly awaiting the rest of the videos in the series, and it won’t surprise me at all if they schedule the releases so that the final video goes live within a day or three of Starfield’s launch.

If the game lives up to the hype, I will happily lose most of September to it. Considering that Bethesda Game Studios is behind this project, I feel very safe in concluding it will be very much worth the hype. Out of their entire catalog, the only game I refuse to play is Fallout 76.

Otherwise, I’ve been a major fan of their work since Fallout 2, which was how I discovered the Fallout franchise. After I finished Fallout 2, I purchased and played the first so I finally understood all the story references in the game.

I’m even considering digging out my joystick and throttle kit for Starfield. It’s been at least ten years ago now that I purchased a Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog at MicroCenter in Cincinnati. No… wait. I think it’s been even longer than ten years. One of my then-closest friends was living in Cincinnati at the time (he later moved back), and at least a couple of us drove out to help him with his new computer build. Regardless, due to space limitations that I’ve faced ever since, I have not enjoyed using it as much as I would’ve liked.
