I finally remembered to update the Current Project section of site’s homepage. Are they still called homepages? Or am I showing my age?
Anywho…
As I might have said in my previous post, I’m taking the rest of October off in the hopes that dedicated relaxation and Not Writing will help me shorten the “post book” slump I seem to always experience when I finish a story.
I’m also hoping it will help with my other problem. No… not that. The day I finished Torvalin, October 18th, I wrote a little over 400 words to push the day’s word count to where I wanted it. The problem with that is that my creativity latched onto those 400-ish words and now wants to dive into that story like a basejumper diving off the New River Gorge bridge on Bridge Day.
This would be awesome except for the small fact that this story is not Vorcalix. 🤦♂️
It’s a High Fantasy story (often called Epic Fantasy, these days). I’ve been wanting to get back to that genre for a while, and the second quintet of Drakmoor will only carry me so far.
Except it’s not Vorcalix…
Now, all things being equal, I’d dive into this story idea like the basejumper mentioned above. The crux of the issue is that I’m afraid putting off writing Vorcalix until December will put me too close to the April pre-order deadlines I stupidly created during the Hell Funk (otherwise known as April & May of 2025).
So, I’ve set November 1st as the date I will resume writing and start writing Vorcalix. I’m hoping this short break will help me get my creativity on the track I want it to chase.
The other option is that I try writing them side-by-side in the hopes that Vorcalix will take over and become the primary project by the end of the month. If I put 2,000 words per day into each story, I’d have them both finished around December 15th-ish… assuming I actually manage a consistent, daily writing habit.
I know, I know… but I live in hope. 🤣
Alrighty. I think I’ve rambled on long enough.
If you’re reading this, thanks for sticking with me.
I hope the days treat you and yours well. Stay safe out there.
