Day 2: 7 July 2021

Hello, folks, and welcome to the second day of my journey toward 1.5 million words by the end of 2021.

Today was a much more productive day for me in terms of writing. To my rough eye and fuzzy math, I managed a little over 1.5 times the word count I achieved yesterday. I wrote a bit over a chapter and a half toward a completely different project that…well…who knows when I’ll publish it? There’s no question that I will publish it; I’m just not sure when.

Like yesterday’s project, it’s also a first-in-series, but unlike yesterday’s project, it’s more of an Epic Fantasy that edges a little closer to Sword & Sorcery. Should I focus on writing one story until it’s finished? Probably. But right now, I’m working on retraining myself that writing is fun…that writing is a happy process that I should anticipate and look forward to.

And this particular story is what felt fun to me today. Don’t worry, though; I’ve already moved the release date of The Fall of Skullkeep back to 31 August, just so I have a little breathing room to clear my head and get back to the best ‘writing is fun’ headspace.

Oh…and while I’m thinking about it, I’m going to go ahead and clear up what may be a point of confusion regarding these posts. If you’ve noticed, the date of the post is one day after the date of the title. That’s because I write these after midnight, so it’s technically the following day.
